Cert ID Certificate Authentication

Cert ID Certificate Authentication All TCCs and Cert ID Certificates issued after the 24 August 2011 will be digitally signed with a visible signature. Do not accept Cert ID Europe Certificates that are not digitally signed or have been tampered with. If you are not confident in the authenticity of a Cert ID document please contact us immediately on info@cert-id.eu and we will assist you.


Step 1 - Ensure you have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. It is available http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Step 2 - Validate the digital signature. Please follow the instructions below* to change the document’s certification from ‘UNKNOWN’ to ‘Certified by ’. Only the document author’s key can validate the document’s digital certificate.
Step 3 - You can immediately check the authenticity of digitally authenticated Cert ID certificates in future by clicking the panel Signatures and then Validate All and the document’s authenticity will automatically validate…or not as the case may be.


*Please follow the below instructions and download our public keys to validate your certificates, you will only need to do this once.

1. Download the ‘Public Keys’ by Double clicking on the document author’s name below to import the Public key into your computer. We recommend you download all public keys to ensure your document is correctly validated. Once they are installed you will not have to install them again.
2. Click OK on the first dialog box to open with the Adobe programme installed on your computer.
3. Click ‘Set Contact Trust’
      



4. On the next screen check all boxes as in the image below:
   


5. Click OK. The public keys to validate your certificate or document is now installed. (Repeat for each document author)
6. Now, when you open a Cert ID Certificate you can verify the integrity and authenticity of the signature clicking on the panel Signatures and then on Validate All.

   


The document will now appear with a validated blue strip as below

What if my certificate is not valid?
Do not accept certificates issued after 24 August 2011 if:
1. No digital authentication is present
2. Authentication step reveals the document has been altered invalidating the original digital authentication
3. If you suspect the document may have been altered If you have concerns regarding the authenticity of a Cert ID document please email
info@cert-id.eu immediately.
